The company was founded in 1994 and is now partner-owned, with approximately 2,000 employees across all seven Nordic and Baltic countries. Newsec has approximately SEK 600 billion in assets under management, signs leases covering approximately 1,000,000 square metres annually, completes transactions worth approximately SEK 50 billion, and values properties with an underlying value of approximately SEK 1,750 billion. We strive to build a strong sense of team spirit and are proud to have high employee satisfaction and a workforce comprising both experienced experts and young talent. In the annual independent employee survey “Great Place to Work,” Newsec has been ranked as one of Sweden’s best workplaces since 2010. www.newsec.se About the Role Would you like to help shape a modern Nordic data platform at a company making a major investment in data and analytics? As a Data Engineer at Newsec, you will play an active role in building and managing our enterprise-wide data platform, powered by Microsoft Fabric and the Azure ecosystem. This role is ideal for a junior to mid-level engineer looking to grow alongside an experienced team while working with cutting-edge Lakehouse technology. Working closely with Data Architects, BI Developers, and business stakeholders, you will build reliable, scalable data flows supporting analytics, self-service BI, and data-driven services across the Nordics and Baltics. Your Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and deploy data pipelines (ETL/ELT) and data models in Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse). Perform SQL-based development, continuous optimization, quality assurance, and monitoring of data pipelines. Enable self-service BI and analytical workloads through clean, well-structured data foundation layers. Collaborate on shared engineering practices: documentation, code reviews, version control, and platform security. Depending on your experience, you will own clearly defined deliverables or larger components of the platform, with structured mentorship from senior colleagues. Your Skills and Experience To succeed in this role, you have a relevant academic background (e.g., Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems) or equivalent practical experience. You possess a solid foundation in data engineering concepts and are eager to work with modern SaaS data platforms. We are looking for: Core Engineering Foundation: Good proficiency in SQL and a strong understanding of relational database principles, data modeling (e.g., dimensional modeling), and data integration (ETL/ELT). Modern Platform Familiarity: Hands-on experience or genuine project exposure to Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse) or modern cloud data stacks (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI, Databricks). Development Practices: Understanding version control (Git), automated workflows/CI-CD basics, and core data quality principles. Programming Exposure: Familiarity with Python or PySpark for data transformation and scripting is a plus. Communication: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in Swedish or another Nordic language is a strong advantage. The role can be tailored to your level of experience—whether you have gained these skills through university projects, internships, or 1–3 years of hands-on professional experience. Personal Qualities Curious & Eager to Learn: You enjoy exploring new technologies (especially inside the rapidly evolving Microsoft Fabric ecosystem) and continuously refining your technical toolkit. Structured & Quality-Focused: You take pride in writing clean SQL/code, building reliable data flows, and documenting your work for team maintainability. Collaborative Communicator: You enjoy working in a team environment, actively sharing knowledge, asking for guidance when needed, and communicating technical ideas clearly to both peers and non-technical stakeholders. Proactive Problem-Solver: You take ownership of your assignments, troubleshoot logically, and look for practical ways to improve platform performance and data quality. Please feel free to contact Nilesh Agrawal at nilesh.agrawal@newsec.com or +46790621280 if you have any questions about the role. Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis, so please submit your application as soon as possible!
