We have around 600 staff with an intact startup mindset. We have recently raised Series B financing off the back of >70% compound annual growth in Revenue over the last 5 years. Sleek has been recognised by The Financial Times, The Straits Times, Forbes and LinkedIn as one of the fastest growing companies in Asia. Backed by world-class investors, we are on track to be one of the few cash flow positive, tech-enabled unicorns based out of Asia Pacific. Requirements Mission of the role Prepare bookkeeping, VAT returns and draft year end accounts for UK small business clients. You work in a pod of five led by a UK-based Senior Accounts Manager: two senior accountants, two accountants and a bookkeeper, serving around 300 UK small business clients from January and growing to around 500 through 2027. Until the manager starts in January, you work in one of our existing UK teams. A Senior Accountant reviews your work. Your work is on time and right the first time, and as you grow you take on year end accounts and corporation tax returns. What you’ll do - Keep clients’ books up to date in Xero: bank reconciliations, sales and purchase ledgers, and month and year end adjustments. - Prepare VAT returns under Making Tax Digital for review. - Prepare draft year end accounts and, as you grow, corporation tax returns. - Check your own work before sending it for review, and act on corrections. - Chase clients early for missing records, and tell your Senior Accountant in good time when a deadline is at risk. - Keep client records and workflow data accurate. - Use the AI tools we are building into our products and workflow Key outcomes in the first 6–12 months - Your bookkeeping and VAT returns are ready for review before their deadlines, with client delays chased early and recorded. - Your work needs fewer review rounds, measured from when you start. - By month 12, you prepare draft year end accounts and CT600s for review, not just bookkeeping and VAT. - Workflow data for your clients is accurate and up to date. Must-have experience - A degree in commerce, accounting or finance (for example B.Com or BS Accountancy). - At least 2 years in accounting, including at least 1 on UK clients: bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and VAT returns. - Confident with Xero, QuickBooks or a similar cloud accounting package. - Written English good enough to email UK clients directly. - Based in India or the Philippines, with the right to work there. - Able to work a shift that overlaps UK business hours. Nice to have - Has prepared draft UK year end accounts or CT600s Must-have attributes - Ownership: you finish what you start and fix problems rather than pass them on. - Accuracy: you check your own numbers before anyone else has to. - Takes feedback well: you act on corrections and don’t make the same mistake twice. - Great communicator: clear in writing, with UK clients and with your reviewer. - Process, data and compliance: you follow the process and keep records clean. - One team: you help the rest of the pod, not just your own clients. - Open to AI: comfortable with our tools taking on more of the routine work. The interview process - TA Screening Call: A 30 minute call with our Talent Acquisition team - Live Technical Assessment: A ~60–90 minute live skills test to assess your hands-on bookkeeping capability. - Technical Interview : A 45 - 60 minute interview with the Accounting manager who will assess your technical skills. - Soft Skills Interview: A ~15-30 minute interview with the hiring team to evaluate real-world work scenarios against our core behavioural values. - Reference Verification: Prior to final offer confirmation, we will conduct one professional reference check with your recent direct manager or supervisor. To keep the process moving smoothly, this step may be initiated during the final interview stages. Requirement for background screening Please be aware that Sleek is a regulated entity and as such is required to perform different levels of background checks on staff depending on their role. This may include using external vendors to verify: - Your education - Any criminal history - Any political exposure - Any bankruptcy or adverse credit history We will ask for your consent before conducting these checks. Depending on your role at Sleek, an adverse result on one of these checks may prohibit you from passing probation. By submitting a job application, you confirm that you have read and agree to our Data Privacy Statement for Candidates, found at Sleek.com.
