Data Center Technician - Chandler

Requirements:

• Higher education or a degree is preferred but not required; a foreign equivalent from an accredited institution is also accepted. We will consider 1–3 years of progressive experience in the specialty in place of each year of education.
• At least 2 years of experience racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic configuration support for network or server devices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of teams of 3–4, with flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
• Ability to work briefly in hot, enclosed environments such as data center hot aisles and to use ladders for top-of-rack installations.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance and to walk, sit, stand, crawl, or kneel for extended periods as needed.
• Willingness to travel between buildings on foot or in a personal vehicle.
• Excellent customer service, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, as well as Windows 10.
• Experience with structured network cabling is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain network environments onsite by providing hands-on support for incidents and service requests.
• Work with remote Level 2 and Level 3 teams to help resolve outages and issues, including replacing cabling or hardware components.
• Coordinate with remote network support teams to install hardware and patch cables for new customer services.
• Install network and server equipment, manage cabling, fit fiber and copper patch leads, provide remote teams with console access when needed, and test connectivity after installation and configuration.
• Receive data center hardware shipments, verify purchase orders, unpack equipment, and recycle packaging materials.
• Move equipment from docks to staging areas or data center racks, and install or retrofit server racks, rails, and shelving.
• Install power and network cables, manage cabling, and scan and label installed network and server devices.
• Set aside designated parts for spare inventory and handle and dispose of electronic waste appropriately.
• Ship and receive equipment as needed, escort vendors and technicians, and complete work requests through the ServiceNow ticketing system.
