Database Administrator - Vertica and Sybase

Requirements:

• Proficiency administering Vertica, Sybase ASE, and Sybase IQ databases
• Strong SQL skills and expertise in Linux/Unix environments, preferably RHEL
• Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated capability in backup and recovery, high availability and disaster recovery, replication, and security administration
• Experience supporting production systems and mission-critical workloads
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams
• 5–7 years of experience in relevant database administration roles
• Preferred: Shell scripting for automation and operational efficiency
• Preferred: Experience with monitoring tools and modernization or migration initiatives

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and upgrade Vertica, Sybase ASE, and Sybase IQ databases
• Tune performance, monitor systems, and troubleshoot database issues
• Manage backups, recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and replication
• Administer database security and ensure compliance with standards
• Support production operations and provide on-call coverage for mission-critical applications
• Plan and carry out database migrations and version upgrades
• Work with application and infrastructure teams to support reliability and scalability
• Create and maintain standards, procedures, and runbooks
