Linux Engineer

Requirements:

• We need 6+ years of experience in Linux system administration, including performance tuning, networking, and service management.
• We value strong scripting and development ability in Bash, Python, or comparable languages.
• We expect hands-on experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation.
• We require a solid understanding of secure system configuration and federal compliance frameworks.
• We look for demonstrated experience setting up and maintaining small computer lab environments, including hardware setup, OS imaging, network configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.
• We want proficiency with virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware, KVM, Docker, and Podman.
• We require an active Secret clearance.
• We require U.S. citizenship to obtain a clearance.

Responsibilities:

• We design, develop, and optimize Linux-based applications, tools, and system components.
• We administer and harden Linux systems, including RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu, across production, development, and secure environments.
• We architect and implement automation solutions using Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Python, or similar tools.
• We troubleshoot complex system, network, and application issues as Tier 3 support.
• We partner with cybersecurity teams to maintain compliance with federal security standards such as STIGs, NIST, and FISMA.
• We support and improve CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
• We manage small computer lab environments, including workstation provisioning, OS imaging, patching, network configuration, and hardware lifecycle management.
• We document system configurations, processes, and operational procedures clearly.

We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator to provide Linux systems engineering, administration, and DevSecOps support for secure development, test, and operational environments supporting NSWCDD laser, electro-optical, and mission system programs. This role is onsite at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren/Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division or Contractor Site 3-4 days per week. We offer a projected annual compensation range of $106,000 to $147,000 USD, with pay determined by experience, education, training, clearance, location, skills, knowledge, competencies, and alignment with our compensation plan and contract requirements.
