Software Engineer Specialist - Orchid

Requirements:

• We seek a highly skilled, motivated Software Engineer/Data Analyst.
• We require a bachelors degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience, a graduate degree and at least 2 years of related experience, or at least 8 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• The posting identifies an active TS/SCI clearance as ideal and also lists an active TS clearance with the ability to obtain SCI as a qualification.
• We require a security certification or DoD IAT Level II certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of accepting the position.
• We seek familiarity with the C2S Access Portal (CAP), high-side AWS environments, and relational or non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or DynamoDB.
• We value full-stack development experience across front-end, back-end, and cloud-based applications; proficiency with frameworks and technologies such as React, Angular, Vue, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS; and experience with back-end languages or frameworks such as Java, Python, Node.js, or .NET.
• We value experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, application integration, Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
• We prefer experience developing AI/ML-enabled mission applications, analytical tools, or decision-support capabilities, especially involving scientific, sensor-derived, geophysical, acoustic, seismic, infrasonic, or other mission-relevant data.
• We strongly prefer experience transitioning research or prototype capabilities into operational software tools, particularly in classified DoD mission environments, and building applications in classified or high-security environments.
• We value experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• We require the ability to commute periodically to Patrick Space Force Base, if needed.

Responsibilities:

• We modernize and migrate analytics applications into high-performance web applications using modern technologies.
• We design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack applications, including user interfaces, back-end services, APIs, and data integrations.
• We build responsive, intuitive front-end solutions and secure, scalable back-end services and application logic for mission applications and workflows.
• We deploy and maintain applications in AWS, ensuring they are scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective.
• We integrate cloud-native services, databases, and application components across distributed environments.
• We apply software engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle, including code reviews, automated testing, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• We collaborate with system engineers, cloud engineers, cyber teams, and mission stakeholders to define requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions.
• We engage with customers daily to understand operational needs, gather feedback, and refine application functionality.
• We prepare architectural designs, implementation plans, and technical roadmaps aligned with organizational and mission goals.
• We create and maintain documentation covering system design, application architecture, deployment, and sustainment.
• We deliver presentations and technical briefings, explaining complex concepts clearly to stakeholders.
• We support varied mission areas and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
