Backend PHP Developer - AWS / Serverless

Requirements:

• Strong professional experience developing with PHP
• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and serverless architecture
• Experience building REST APIs and integrations, and working with relational databases such as MySQL
• Working knowledge of AWS services such as API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, SQS, and SNS
• Ability to work in an established production codebase and own projects from development through deployment
• Preferred: Python, PostgreSQL, AI/LLM-powered applications, TypeScript/Node.js, Docker, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, vector databases, RAG, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar AI technologies

Responsibilities:

• Build and enhance backend services using PHP, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and MySQL
• Develop APIs, third-party integrations, and new product features
• Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing services
• Refactor and modernize code, and troubleshoot production issues
• Collaborate on architecture, code reviews, testing, and technical decisions

We are hiring a full-time Backend PHP Developer to help build and scale the platform in our established production environment. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership and close collaboration with our product and development team. The position is on-site in Evanston, Illinois.
