Business Application Developer

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and supporting web applications, internal business tools, workflow applications, or comparable production software.
• Strong hands-on frontend and backend application development experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of relational databases.
• Experience developing and integrating applications using APIs, including familiarity with authentication, data validation, error handling, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with source control, testing, debugging, secure deployment, and application security.
• Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing applications and codebases.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to turn business challenges into effective technical solutions.
• Experience collaborating with nontechnical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver user-friendly applications.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and ability to review, test, debug, and maintain AI-generated code.
• Ability to learn technologies quickly and manage development projects independently.
• Strong communication, organization, and project ownership skills.
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is beneficial but not required; relevant hands-on experience and demonstrated technical capabilities are also considered.
• Preferred: Experience developing AI-powered applications or automated business workflows; familiarity with OCR, document extraction, or intelligent automation; experience integrating applications with ERP or WMS; knowledge of distribution, inventory management, or warehouse operations; experience with NetSuite, IntraOne, or Microsoft 365; or experience building applications that improve operational processes, reporting, and decision support.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain internal business applications, web tools, and workflow solutions.
• Manage the full application development lifecycle, from gathering requirements and prototyping through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Build frontend interfaces, backend functionality, application workflows, and system integrations.
• Translate complex business requirements into practical, intuitive applications for nontechnical users.
• Create prototypes and minimum viable products to assess solutions before broader implementation.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications to improve functionality, reliability, security, and performance.
• Work with business leaders and employees to identify opportunities to reduce manual work, duplicate data entry, delays, and inefficiencies.
• Develop automation for workflows involving spreadsheets, email, data entry, and disconnected systems.
• Identify and apply opportunities to use AI, OCR, document extraction, and other emerging technologies.
• Build appropriate validation, exception handling, monitoring, and human review into automated processes.
• Develop tools that improve data accessibility, accuracy, operational efficiency, and decision-making.
• Integrate applications with databases, APIs, ERP systems, warehouse management systems, ecommerce platforms, and other enterprise technologies.
• Coordinate with database, systems, and other technical teams to use approved data sources, follow integration standards, and align solutions with existing infrastructure and business systems.
• Develop and maintain application integrations, backend logic, and data workflows; troubleshoot connectivity, authentication, data validation, and performance issues.
• Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and enhance internally developed applications.
• Apply testing, logging, monitoring, version control, and secure deployment practices.
• Maintain technical documentation, training resources, and support procedures.
• Improve application usability, performance, and maintainability.
• Partner with IT leadership and business stakeholders to prioritize development work and deliver solutions aligned with organizational goals.
• Support adoption through user training, feedback, and ongoing improvement.
