Requirements:

  • We seek 7–10 years of experience in mission-critical facilities, data center operations, critical environments, or related infrastructure operations.
  • Direct experience in hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or other large-scale data centers is strongly preferred.
  • We require prior experience leading technical teams in a 24/7 critical-facility setting.
  • Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of critical electrical systems, including switchgear, UPS systems, generators, ATS/STS equipment, electrical distribution, and emergency power operations.
  • Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of critical mechanical systems, including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling systems, airflow management, BAS/BMS controls, and redundancy strategies.
  • We require experience with SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, change control, incident response, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation in critical environments.
  • Candidates must be able to interpret technical documentation, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, sequences of operation, equipment manuals, maintenance procedures, and commissioning documents.
  • We seek a strong understanding of uptime expectations, SLA/CPI performance, client reporting, and operational risk management.
  • Candidates should have experience with CMMS platforms for work orders, preventive maintenance, asset management, and documentation.
  • We value strong leadership, communication, documentation, and client-facing skills.
  • A bachelors degree in engineering, facilities management, construction management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent mission-critical experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Preferred credentials and training include CDC-FP, CDCP, or similar data center certifications; OSHA 10 or 30; NFPA 70E; electrical safety, switching, or critical power training; and OEM training in UPS, generators, switchgear, BAS/BMS, chillers, or critical cooling. A Professional Engineer license is a plus.
  • Candidates must be able to access all areas of a mission-critical facility, including mechanical and electrical rooms, equipment yards, rooftops, and operations spaces; stand, walk, climb stairs, and move through industrial environments for extended periods; and lift up to 30–50 pounds as needed.
  • Candidates must be able to respond to site conditions, inspections, incidents, and operational needs in a 24/7 critical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • We provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for mission-critical facility operations, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, life-safety, and vendor-supported services.
  • We serve as the primary on-site operational liaison for the client, handling communications, expectations, issue resolution, performance measures, and service delivery.
  • We support site startup, commissioning readiness, integrated systems testing, operational turnover, and go-live preparation.
  • We ensure work follows approved SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, safety procedures, change-control requirements, and client expectations.
  • We foster a zero-impact culture centered on uptime, reliability, critical-load protection, risk reduction, and procedural compliance.
  • We oversee critical infrastructure, including utility service, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, ATS/STS equipment, electrical distribution, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling systems, and BAS/BMS controls.
  • We monitor facility systems, KPIs/CPIs, SLAs, alarms, maintenance performance, and operating trends to support compliance and continuous improvement.
  • We lead incident response and escalation, communicate with clients, conduct post-incident reviews and root cause analyses, and track corrective actions.
  • We review, approve, and coordinate planned maintenance, switching activities, outage procedures, vendor work, and other high-risk activities.
  • We oversee staffing, scheduling, onboarding, training, performance management, and the technical development of on-site facility personnel.
  • We work with recruiting and leadership to select and onboard site leads and critical-facilities technicians.
  • We manage CMMS use, including work-order accuracy, preventive-maintenance compliance, asset records, labor reporting, and maintenance history.
  • We coordinate on-site services provided by third-party vendors, OEMs, and subcontractors.
  • We support budget management, cost control, invoice review, change-order coordination, and contract administration.
  • We promote and uphold safety, environmental, regulatory, and site-specific requirements, including through audits and inspections.
  • We advance improvements in uptime, reliability, efficiency, safety, documentation quality, and client satisfaction.
