Data Center Technician (Travel)

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience in data centers, IT, or low-voltage work
• Experience installing low-voltage cabling or working in a related field
• Hands-on experience with twisted-pair, coaxial, power-limited tray, stranded, solid-conductor low-voltage, Category 5 and Category 6, and single-mode and multimode fiber-optic cables
• Knowledge of cabling standards and best practices
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Certifications such as BICSI, FOA, A+, CCNA, or Network+ are an advantage

Responsibilities:

• Install voice and data cabling, conduit, and data center equipment in line with contractual requirements and technical, safety, QA, and QC standards
• Independently route, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber-optic cabling
• Develop work scopes, plans, and procedures with minimal guidance from lead technicians
• Perform rack-and-stack work, install patch panels, dress cables, and maintain structured cabling systems
• Troubleshoot and restore complex fiber-optic and twisted-pair system issues, including signal loss and interface errors
• Diagnose connectivity and hardware problems and carry out break/fix work, resolving issues independently where possible
• Read and interpret cable maps, schematics, and floor plans for installation and troubleshooting
• Maintain accurate work documentation, asset records, and service reports
• Meet QA and QC requirements for assigned projects and installations
• Work in live, mission-critical data center environments
• Coordinate with engineers, vendors, and internal teams to meet project milestones and quality standards
