Requirements:

• 10+ years of software development experience, with strong proficiency in Java, SQL, and Git.
• 10+ years of experience in business analysis and trading systems analysis or administration.
• Strong experience with messaging and data protocols, including Kafka and MQ; familiarity with FIX and FpML.
• Proficiency with Spring, Spring Boot, and Spring Integration.
• Proficiency in data standards and data modeling.
• Comfort working in cloud environments and with DevOps practices, including building, deploying, debugging, and using pipelines.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of equity products and instruments.
• Familiarity with AI coding-assistance tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, or Claude Code.
• Experience operating distributed, real-time systems, with a focus on scalability, latency, performance, and availability.
• Production support experience, including strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
• Experience with application profiling and performance tuning.
• Preferred: experience with order management systems and smart order routing.
• Preferred: experience managing trade data feeds and downstream integrations.
• Preferred: understanding of equities trade life cycles and the regulatory landscape from a developer perspective.
• Preferred: familiarity with Angular and Python.
• Preferred: experience with in-memory caching tools such as Hazelcast, Redis, or GemFire.
• Preferred: experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk.
• Preferred: cloud architecture and scalability design experience, and hands-on FIX protocol experience.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Bachelors degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience; an advanced degree is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build trading and messaging channels that interface with venues and exchanges using industry-standard protocols.
• Operate mission-critical systems and deliver day-to-day enhancements for front-office and operations teams.
• Design and develop core Java components using messaging systems such as Kafka and MQ.
• Coordinate and carry out internal system testing.
• Collaborate with teams across the platform operating model.
• Deliver and maintain equities applications, focusing on reliability and performance.
• Provide second-level production support and troubleshoot issues under pressure.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Modernize the platform into scalable microservices and cloud-based architectures.
• Lead order management system migration and consolidation efforts.

We are seeking a senior full-stack developer at the SVP level to build core equities engineering services that support real-time trading workflows. The role emphasizes backend Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and messaging, as well as modernizing legacy components, adopting AI-assisted development practices, mentoring developers, and supporting mission-critical enhancements. This is a hybrid role based in New York, NY, with four days on site. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W-2 basis. Our W-2 consultants are offered medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company match, and life insurance. The stated rate is $95–$105 per hour on a W-2 basis.
