Head of Hybrid Cloud Services

Requirements:

• Proven track record leading the design, delivery and operation of large-scale cloud and datacentre services, including mission-critical environments requiring high availability, resilience, security and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrable experience delivering cloud transformation programmes, including migration of cloud-native and legacy services, transitions between providers, and measurable improvements in operational performance, resilience or cost efficiency.
• Evidence of building, implementing and operating modern platform engineering capabilities, including Internal Developer Platforms, DevOps practices, automation tooling and Agile delivery approaches that improve developer experience and service outcomes.
• Significant experience leading multidisciplinary technology teams and suppliers, with accountability for complex infrastructure programmes across multiple workstreams, budgets and organisational boundaries.
• Expert-level technical knowledge of cloud and infrastructure technologies, demonstrated through critical technical decisions, resolving major service issues and leadership during complex operational escalations.
• Strong record of delivering business value through technology leadership, including strategic planning, financial management, stakeholder engagement and influencing senior leaders to achieve organisational objectives and technology transformation outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the strategy, design, delivery and operation of our Hybrid Cloud Services function.
• Provide leadership to a team of around 200 specialists delivering business-critical hosting products and services.
• Drive cloud transformation, platform modernisation and service innovation across a large and complex technology estate.
• Balance operational excellence with long-term strategic change.
• Work with senior stakeholders across government to shape hosting and infrastructure strategy.
• Ensure our services remain secure, resilient, scalable and cost-effective.

You will shape our hosting strategy across hyperscale public cloud and on-premise infrastructure, working with senior leaders across DWP and wider government to keep critical services secure, resilient and available while advancing modern engineering practices. The role offers a salary of up to £103,000 and a Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution worth over £24,914 per year.
