Infrastructure Architect – Automation Platform

Requirements:

• Deep, hands-on knowledge of Apples internal infrastructure and provisioning processes.
• Proven experience provisioning and managing virtual machines and virtualized or cloud compute.
• Experience with enterprise identity and access management and service-account provisioning, such as AppleConnect, Access Manager/IDMS, or equivalent systems.
• Hands-on experience with RPA platforms, preferably UiPath, including unattended bot orchestration and runtimes.
• Strong engineering skills combined with the ability to lead and mentor a small team.
• Ability to work independently and resolve ambiguous infrastructure challenges with minimal direction.
• Scripting and automation skills, such as Python or shell, for provisioning and operational tooling.
• Ability and willingness to work on-site in Sunnyvale or Austin.
• Preferred: Prior Apple experience; direct experience with SimCloud and Apple virtualization or cloud provisioning; macOS fleet or endpoint experience; experience scaling attended automations to unattended; familiarity with services such as Box and LDAP/Apple Directory.

Responsibilities:

• Own the automation platforms infrastructure, including compute, environments, tooling, and reliability, while leading the three-person infrastructure team and remaining hands-on.
• Provision, configure, and manage virtual machines and compute for bot runtimes and development and test environments.
• Provision and manage SimCloud unattended environments for bot execution.
• Define and build strategies and tools for running unattended bots at scale, and guide the transition from attended automation.
• Ensure applications used by bots are installed, configured, licensed, and accessible in their runtime environments.
• Manage bot and team service accounts, credentials, and entitlements across Apple identity and access systems.
• Develop repeatable, documented processes and tools for provisioning, environment management, and troubleshooting.
• Partner with automation developers, security, and Apple infrastructure and IT teams to resolve platform, environment, and runtime issues.

This is a W2 contract role for an Infrastructure Architect supporting an automation platform for RPA and GenAI. The architect will lead an existing three-person infrastructure team while personally designing and building the provisioning, environments, and access systems that support reliable bot operations. The role is based on-site in Sunnyvale, California, which is strongly preferred, or Austin, Texas.
