Java Application Developer

Requirements:

• Professional Java application engineering experience, with proficiency in Java SDK 21 or a recent LTS release
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, REST API development, and JSON data structures
• Practical experience deploying and managing applications in AWS
• Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines
• Residence in the Denver metro area and availability to work onsite on Tuesdays
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
• Preferred: GitLab, Terraform or comparable Infrastructure-as-Code tools, Thymeleaf or other server-side templating, DynamoDB or another NoSQL datastore, and AI-assisted development tools
• Must pass a background check, including criminal history and identity verification, and a drug screen

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, test, and maintain Java backend applications using Java SDK 21 and Spring Boot
• Develop, document, and use RESTful APIs and JSON integrations for backend and third-party systems
• Build and support server-rendered interfaces using Thymeleaf, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Deploy, support, and troubleshoot applications on AWS, including Amazon ECS, API Gateway, and DynamoDB
• Manage source code, branching strategies, and CI/CD automation pipelines in GitLab
• Create and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code configurations with Terraform
• Apply unit testing, logging, and modern development practices, including AI-assisted coding tools

We are seeking a contract Java Developer for our client in Denver, Colorado, to build and support web applications, microservices, and cloud-hosted services using Java 21, Spring Boot, and AWS. This build-and-own role spans application development, infrastructure provisioning, and deployment pipelines. Our team works in IntelliJ IDEA and uses tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor. The position is hybrid, with onsite work in Denver on Tuesdays and remote work Monday and Wednesday through Friday; core hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MST. The contract runs from December 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with a possible extension. Compensation is $60.00–$66.90 per hour on W-2, plus benefits, or $76.00 per hour on 1099/C2C.
