Junior Software Engineer

Requirements:

• Active DoD Secret clearance at the time of hire
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 1–3 years of professional software development experience with Java, C++ or newer, or Python
• Working knowledge of C++ or newer and fundamental software engineering practices
• Familiarity with Git-based version control, code review workflows, Linux development environments, and agile methodologies
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and customers
• Preferred: Experience with Linux environments, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux; Docker or Podman; Kubernetes or another container orchestration platform; CI/CD and automated build, test, and deployment workflows; and Python or Bash scripting
• Preferred: Ability to learn new technologies, take on increasing responsibility, and work effectively in a small agile team

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain C++ applications that support U.S. Navy submarine combat systems
• Build and package software applications as containers for deployment to a Kubernetes-based runtime, collaborating with senior engineers on configuration and deployment
• Develop unit tests for software components and maintain test coverage as features evolve
• Run component and integration tests in laboratory environments and troubleshoot defects identified during testing
• Collaborate with product leads and test engineers to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and deliver software in an agile environment
