Lead AI Engineer

Requirements:

• At least 7 years of software engineering experience, with a record of senior- or lead-level autonomy
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or React with TypeScript; candidates whose primary background is not Python should be ready and motivated to master it quickly
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform; FastAPI experience is strongly preferred
• Frontend development experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, React, Next.js, or Node is a plus
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents
• Experience with AI evaluation, automated testing, regression testing, failure analysis, and production monitoring
• Strong understanding of AI security, data privacy, guardrails, and the safe handling of sensitive information
• Ability to optimize applications for quality, latency, reliability, and cost
• High autonomy, sound product judgment, and comfort working in a low-formality startup environment

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build AI-powered financial workflows, chat interfaces, reporting systems, and bespoke tools
• Turn high-level problem statements into detailed requirements, anticipate edge cases, design systems, and independently deliver production-ready implementations
• Integrate and optimize AI applications for quality, latency, reliability, and cost
• Maintain high standards for software quality, reliability, security, maintainability, and data privacy
• Use AI-assisted programming methods and coding agents, while reviewing, testing, and validating generated code
• Develop AI evaluation and quality-engineering practices, including automated evaluations, test datasets, regression testing, failure analysis, and production monitoring
• Implement AI security and production controls, including access controls, prompt-injection defenses, guardrails, and auditability
• Learn and adopt new technologies as the AI ecosystem evolves
