Lead Software Engineer, Backend/Integration

Requirements:

• We require an active TS/SCI clearance.
• We require a bachelors degree in computer science or computer engineering and at least 9 years of relevant experience, a graduate degree and at least 7 years of related experience, or at least 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• We require a security certification or DoD IAT Level II certification, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of accepting the position.
• We seek strong backend software development experience, including proficiency in Java and familiarity with technologies such as Python, Node.js, .NET, REST APIs, microservices, and relational or non-relational databases.
• We value experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, CI/CD, Git, secure software development, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• We prefer experience developing AI/ML-enabled mission applications, analytical tools, decision-support capabilities, or using AI-assisted development tools.
• We highly value experience with scientific or mission-relevant technical data, including sensor-derived, geophysical, acoustic, seismic, or infrasonic data.
• We prefer experience transitioning research or prototype capabilities into operational software for classified DoD environments, as well as prior field assignment experience.
• We highly value familiarity with the C2S Access Portal (CAP) and high-side AWS environments.

Responsibilities:

• We rely on this role to develop secure, scalable backend services and application logic for mission applications and workflows.
• We expect this role to apply software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle, including code reviews, automated testing, version control, and CI/CD.
• We need this engineer to deploy and maintain AWS applications with attention to scalability, security, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
• We expect this role to engage with customers regularly to refine requirements and improve application functionality.
• We rely on this engineer to prepare and present technical designs, implementation plans, roadmaps, and documentation.
• We need this role to create and maintain documentation covering system design, application architecture, deployment, and sustainment.
• We expect this engineer to support Agile development teams and participate in Scrum ceremonies.
• We rely on this role to build and deploy mission applications in classified or other high-security environments.
