Principal Application System Analyst

Requirements:

• 10+ years of related experience, including recent hands-on experience with API Connect and DataPower within the past five years.
• Experience transitioning from developer to analyst, with strong communication skills.
• Healthcare, health plan, or insurance industry experience preferred.
• Prior BCBS experience is a plus.
• A bachelors or advanced degree is preferred; 10+ years of related experience may be considered in place of a degree.

Responsibilities:

• Gather requirements for API Connect development workstreams and document APIs in the API Connect management tool.
• Prepare functional specifications for developers covering updates, changes, and new components.
• Influence the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of complex technical solutions using design documents, gap analysis, business rules, data mapping, risk assessment, and traceability mapping.
• Translate business requirements and rules into enterprise-focused functional designs and system function points.
• Analyze systems to validate designs and conduct or facilitate reverse engineering when needed.
• Prioritize requirements through negotiation, release planning, and systems analysis.
• Maintain end-to-end traceability and assess upstream and downstream impacts of proposed changes.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of systems, applications, and components to support broad, complex solutions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in systems analysis and process design, and advise on alternative technologies.
• Review work from Business Analysts, Architects, and Developers to support end-to-end product quality.
• Assess solutions for phased production releases and manage technical synergies and conflicts in support of portfolio goals.
• Participate in scope and implementation strategy planning, including iterative design and deployment phases.
• Communicate impacts, risks, and gaps to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate team efforts to define, analyze, and develop enterprise solutions, and mentor less experienced staff.
