  • A bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least three years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, test automation, or a related engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Professional experience with TypeScript or JavaScript and an automated testing framework such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or a comparable tool.
  • Experience creating and maintaining automated UI, end-to-end, functional, and regression tests.
  • Experience with Cucumber, Gherkin, or behavior-driven development.
  • Experience testing React applications and modern component-based interfaces.
  • Familiarity with Vite and experience testing or supporting Electron desktop applications.
  • Experience designing and running test cases, analyzing results, reporting defects, and tracing tests to requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, debugging, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an Agile environment, and to learn and work with complex software systems and technical environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Preferred: Experience building or extending TypeScript, Playwright, and Cucumber/Gherkin automation frameworks; testing Material UI components, complex React workflows, and Electron applications; or working with Cesium, GIS, virtual globes, mapping applications, or geospatial interfaces.
  • Preferred: Experience testing map interactions and workflows, including panning, zooming, layers, entity selection, terrain, imagery, visualization, and coordinates.
  • Preferred: Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar tools; proficiency with Git and collaborative source control; or familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, GitLab, or other test management and defect tracking tools.
  • Preferred: Experience with Python or C++, modeling and simulation, mission-support applications, Windows or Linux, basic networking and troubleshooting, or mentoring junior test engineers and improving QA processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with developers, systems engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and define test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop, run, and maintain automated tests using TypeScript, Playwright, Cucumber, and Gherkin, including end-to-end, functional, integration, and regression coverage for a React and TypeScript application.
  • Create reusable automation frameworks, fixtures, utilities, test data, and reporting components.
  • Test React, Material UI, Vite, and Electron applications, covering navigation, forms, dialogs, tables, validation, accessibility, error handling, window behavior, and file access.
  • Test Cesium geospatial features, including map navigation, terrain, imagery, layers, entity interaction, visualization, and coordinate-based workflows.
  • Maintain BDD feature files and TypeScript step definitions, linking them to system requirements.
  • Review test results, investigate failures, distinguish application defects from test or environment issues, and document defects for resolution.
  • Perform exploratory and risk-based testing to uncover usability concerns, edge cases, and defects that automation may miss.
  • Run regression tests and contribute to release qualification.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve test execution, reporting, and reliability.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and peer reviews, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, daily standups, and reviews of test plans, cases, automation code, and technical documentation.
  • Guide junior QA engineers and help develop QA standards, processes, and testing methods.
