Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoW Secret security clearance; an active Secret clearance is preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • A masters degree or PhD in AI/ML, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred but not required, particularly when paired with substantial hands-on experience.
  • At least 8 years of software development or data experience, including 5+ years focused on AI/ML engineering and MLOps, with production deployments on Google Cloud.
  • Demonstrated experience designing data ingestion, processing, and transformation workflows with Dataflow, Data Fusion, Dataproc, BigQuery, and Looker, and integrating these with Vertex AI for model training, deployment, and inference.
  • Current Google Associate Cloud Engineer (GCP-ACE) or Google Professional Cloud Architect (GCP-PCA) certification, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • Current DoW Cyber Baseline Certification, such as Security+ Intermediate or SecurityX/CASP+ Advanced, or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience extracting data from SAP Enterprise Business Applications.
  • Expert Python skills, and/or experience with Go or TypeScript for AI services; strong knowledge of Vertex AI, BigQuery, Dataflow and/or Data Fusion, GKE or Cloud Run, Cloud Build, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
  • Practical experience with LLMs and generative AI, including Gemini, vector databases, prompt engineering, RAG, evaluation, and guardrails.
  • Proven MLOps experience spanning pipelines, ML CI/CD, feature stores, monitoring and drift detection, and automated retraining; strong data engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to design secure, compliant solutions for DoW and Federal environments, including knowledge of NIST, RMF, FedRAMP, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Vertex AI Agent Builder, Model Garden, embeddings and vector search (such as BigQuery Vector or AlloyDB AI), and evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience safely integrating generative AI into IL5 environments and familiarity with available government AI platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and deliver end-to-end AI/ML solutions on Google Cloud using Vertex AI and Gemini or other LLM services, optimizing performance, cost, and maintainability.
  • Build production data pipelines with BigQuery, Dataflow, and Dataproc; integrate streaming through Pub/Sub; containerize and orchestrate workloads with Cloud Run and GKE; and automate CI/CD using Cloud Build and infrastructure as code.
  • Implement MLOps practices, including experiment tracking, evaluation, bias and robustness testing, model versioning, staged rollouts, automated retraining, drift detection, and lineage.
  • Apply secure-by-design practices, including VPC Service Controls, private service access, CMEK, fine-grained IAM, artifact signing, and secrets management, aligned with applicable security and compliance baselines.
  • Operationalize LLM and generative AI capabilities, including RAG, tool use and agents, safety filters, evaluation harnesses, and retrieval across structured and unstructured data; use DoW-approved AI toolchains where appropriate.
  • Work with mission stakeholders to define requirements and measurable success criteria, then deliver value iteratively.
  • Mentor technical teams and lead engineering design and code reviews.
  • Contribute to program roadmaps and use cases, and document architectures, controls, and standard operating procedures for ongoing operations.
