Senior Java Developer (Java EE, Cursor)

Requirements:

• 12+ years of professional software development experience with Java frameworks, especially Spring
• 8+ years of experience in architecture and design
• 6+ years of experience with open-source frameworks
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
• Strong ability to design and run experiments, influence engineering direction, and shape product roadmaps
• Experience partnering with engineering teams and moving research into production
• Experience using Cursor AI effectively
• Publication record in credible conferences and journals
• Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
• In-depth knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms
• Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative methods
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
• Knowledge of developer tools across the software development lifecycle, including task management, source control, building, deployment, operations, and real-time communication
• Fluency in and specialization with at least two modern languages, such as Java, C++, Python, or C#, including object-oriented design
• Experience with microservices architecture and extensible REST APIs
• Experience designing architectures and systems with attention to design patterns, reliability, and scalability
• Knowledge of DevOps concepts, cloud architecture, and the Azure DevOps operational framework
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and operational portals such as Azure Portal
• Experience with application monitoring tools and performance assessments
• In-depth knowledge of data center structure, capabilities, and services, including Azure and its native offerings
• Experience with security protocols and products, including Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, and OAuth
• Experience with Azure networking, including subscriptions and security zoning

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical and strategic leadership across multiple areas of the enterprise
• Collaborate with product managers, colleagues, customers, and engineering teams to address complex problems
• Develop and implement software development strategies across multiple domains
• Ensure solutions meet quality, usability, and performance standards
• Use Java, Python or other object-oriented languages, SQL and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure services to build and enhance systems
• Mentor and coach engineering and product teams, share expertise, and educate executives
• Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams
• Analyze costs and forecasts and incorporate findings into business plans
• Identify and support resource needs, assess operational processes, measure outcomes, and promote adaptability and continuous learning
• Work with staff and senior engineers to build new systems, improve existing systems, and identify opportunities to solve critical problems
• Lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap to accelerate product delivery and expand engineering capabilities
