Senior Systems Engineer – MSP

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of professional IT support or systems administration experience
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across Windows desktop and server environments
• Advanced experience administering Microsoft 365
• Experience with Active Directory, Entra ID/Azure AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server
• Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, switches, and wireless networks
• Experience troubleshooting server, virtualization, storage, and backup environments
• Ability to independently manage complex technical problems from diagnosis to resolution
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent documentation and time-management abilities
• Ability to prioritize multiple client issues in a fast-paced environment
• Valid drivers license and ability to travel to client sites when needed
• Preferred: Previous experience in an MSP environment
• Preferred: Experience with Hyper-V
• Preferred: Experience with SonicWall and/or UniFi environments
• Preferred: Experience with Datto, Veeam, SentinelOne, Bitdefender, or similar platforms
• Preferred: Experience using PSA/ticketing and RMM platforms
• Preferred: Experience supporting healthcare, dental, or other professional-service environments
• Preferred: Familiarity with dental and medical applications such as Eaglesoft, Patterson, Dexis, Carestream, WinOMS, Open Dental, Romexis, or similar software
• Preferred: Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, SonicWall, or other relevant industry certifications

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a senior escalation resource for Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex workstation, server, network, and application issues
• Support Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID/Azure, SharePoint, and related Microsoft technologies
• Diagnose Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, permissions, authentication, and domain issues
• Troubleshoot Windows Server and virtualization environments
• Diagnose advanced networking problems involving firewalls, switches, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networks, routing, and connectivity
• Support backup, disaster recovery, endpoint protection, and cybersecurity solutions
• Investigate persistent or complex technical issues and identify root causes rather than relying on temporary fixes
• Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot third-party software and hardware
• Assist with escalated client issues through remote or on-site support
• Accurately document troubleshooting, resolutions, configurations, and client environments in our PSA
• Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance
• Identify ways to improve our processes, documentation, and technical standards
• Contribute to projects and infrastructure work as needed
• Explain technical issues and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical users

We are RoCo Tech Services, a managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud, networking, and technology support provider serving businesses throughout New England. We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our growing Managed Services team and help us improve the service we deliver across a diverse range of client environments. This is a hands-on senior technical role suited to someone who takes ownership of challenging problems, works collaboratively, and shares knowledge with the team. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, and in person, with travel to client locations as needed. Compensation is competitive and based on experience, with an advertised annual range of $70,000–$82,000. Benefits include health insurance, vision insurance, and paid time off.
