Software Quality Triage Specialist

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of triage and in-depth root cause analysis experience in robotics or the autonomous vehicle industry
• Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field
• Experience investigating issues beyond high-level categorization
• Hands-on experience analyzing vehicle logs across perception, planning, localization, controls, and other system-level behaviors
• Strong understanding of autonomous vehicle sensors, such as cameras, lidar, and radar, and how their performance affects perception and planning
• Experience using simulation to assess safety-related behaviors during triage
• Ability to investigate complex issues and identify their root causes
• Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to learn and apply new concepts, tools, and workflows quickly
• Curiosity and diligence in investigating unexpected system behavior
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise, thorough technical documentation
• Interest in autonomous technology and in improving safety and efficiency through triage and simulation

Responsibilities:

• Develop deep familiarity with our Kodiak Driver system
• Review and assess performance results from our autonomous trucks
• Conduct thorough root cause investigations efficiently and with limited oversight
• Identify and categorize system failure modes, file bugs, and track them through resolution
• Prepare reports on overall system performance for the team
• Work with our operations and engineering teams to improve workflows and processes
• Perform quality assurance on 2D and 3D labels used to train and improve our algorithms

We are hiring a Software Quality Triage Specialist for our growing Software Quality team. The role is based at our centrally located Mountain View, California office. The listed base salary range for our San Francisco/Silicon Valley location is $120,000–$135,000; actual starting pay depends on factors such as location, experience, training, education, skills, and interview performance. Total compensation includes base salary, equity, bonuses, and benefits.
