Application Developer

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, plus 7+ years of application development experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
• 5+ years developing asynchronous SOAP and RESTful APIs and integrating them with applications
• 5+ years of experience with SQL Server and T-SQL
• 5+ years testing system integrations
• 4+ years developing data migration strategies and leading related efforts
• 4+ years creating data schemas for legacy systems and mapping legacy data into SQL databases
• 4+ years using Azure Functions for data migration work
• 3+ years using SSIS for data migrations
• 3+ years working with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
• 3+ years performing REST API testing
• Experience deploying Azure resources using Bicep scripts
• Programming experience with the .NET MVC framework, including ASP.NET and C#
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to organize and manage complex data projects from planning through execution
• Willingness to write and run manual test cases
• Experience developing and executing automated browser tests
• Experience using Git-based source control
• Experience developing applications with JavaScript
• Cloud certifications
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong documentation and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

• Lead the replacement of current systems with new solutions for the Washington State Ferries initiative
• Integrate multiple new solutions with existing internal and external applications
• Support the migration of current data into the new systems
• Develop APIs and application components
• Design databases and map data schemas

• Troubleshoot issues and resolve problems throughout the development cycle

We support the Washington State Ferries initiative to replace several existing systems with new solutions. Our Integration App Team Specialist role leads the replacement effort by coordinating new solution integration, connecting with internal and external applications, and supporting data migration into the new environment. We offer a remote work arrangement within the United States, Monday through Friday with up to 40 hours per week and some flexibility in scheduling, while aligning with standard operating hours. Occasional travel to other WSDOT locations may be required and is reimbursable under current state and agency travel policies.
