Application Developer (Mid-Level)

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of software development experience, including hands-on Java application development.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience developing applications with Java and JavaScript.
• At least 2 years of experience with Angular and modern web application development practices.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful web services and working with application integration patterns.
• At least 2 years of experience with PostgreSQL or a similar relational database.
• At least 2 years of experience developing and supporting applications in Linux environments.
• Understanding of application design principles, software architecture, and performance considerations.
• Experience with unit testing, code reviews, debugging, and software troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to Agile teams, including participation in technical and architecture discussions.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, time-management, analytical, and communication skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust clearance.
• Must have lived in the United States for at least 3 of the past 5 years.
• Preferred: Experience supporting CMS, federal government, or healthcare systems.
• Preferred: Experience with Spring Framework, Maven or Gradle, XML/JSON processing, and NoSQL technologies such as MarkLogic.
• Preferred: Experience with DevOps-aligned practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated build and deployment tools.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the technical design, development, testing, and implementation of custom Java software solutions.
• Develop and improve Java-based RESTful web services in accordance with technical designs and architectural standards.
• Review functional specifications and work with business analysts and technical teams to translate business needs into technical designs.
• Estimate the effort required for new functionality, enhancements, and change requests to support project planning and delivery.
• Create and maintain unit tests to help ensure software quality, reliability, and performance.
• Participate in code reviews and offer constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintainability.
• Work with development colleagues to assess impacts across the software development lifecycle and recommend technical improvements.
• Share regular progress updates and proactively identify and escalate technical risks, dependencies, and issues.
