Cloud Platform Engineer – Entry Level

Requirements:

• 0–3 years of experience in cloud, DevOps, systems administration, IT infrastructure, or a related field; internships, labs, and military experience count.
• AWS certification, or ability to obtain one within the first 90 days.
• Working knowledge of core AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch.
• Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with Linux and Git-based workflows.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination.
• Preferred: AWS Associate-level certification.
• Preferred: CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Preferred: Hands-on Terraform or CloudFormation experience, including personal or academic projects.
• Preferred: Exposure to Docker and ECS/EKS.
• Preferred: Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or Jenkins.
• Preferred: Prior experience in a federal or Department of Defense environment.
• Preferred: Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities:

• Operate AWS platform services, including monitoring, logging, access control, patching, backups, and configuration management.
• Resolve operational tickets and escalate complex issues with clear documentation.
• Automate recurring manual tasks using scripts and standardized deployment patterns.
• Contribute to Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation with guidance from senior engineers.
• Help onboard workloads to platform services and standard deployment patterns.
• Maintain accurate runbooks, procedures, and system documentation.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineers, Solutions Architects, and Cybersecurity staff to meet DoD security and compliance requirements.
