Deputy IT Director, Operations and Cybersecurity

Requirements:

• At least 6 years of progressive IT experience managing complex technology functions
• At least 3 years of full-time supervisory experience in an IT environment
• Experience managing services provided by managed-service providers or outsourced vendors, including service-level agreements and performance
• Cybersecurity operations leadership experience, including incident response, vulnerability management, and risk assessment
• Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Intune
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and discretion with sensitive information, and the ability to foster a collaborative team environment and prioritize deadlines
• Availability for occasional after-hours work
• Ability to pass a background and credit check before starting
• Preferred: IT experience in state government, financial services, or another regulated environment, including audit, compliance, and risk management
• Preferred: Experience with state-government shared-services models
• Preferred: Project management experience
• Preferred: Enterprise systems and integrations, including SAP, financial institution interfaces, and secure file transfer
• Preferred: IT procurement, contract management, and budgeting experience
• Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, ITIL, or PMP

Responsibilities:

• Oversee infrastructure, business application, and helpdesk services delivered by internal staff and managed-service providers, holding vendors accountable to performance standards
• Act as the primary operations liaison to statewide shared-services providers
• Participate in the Information Security Team, supporting incident response, vulnerability management, risk assessments, and remediation
• Support access-control reviews, audits, and policy compliance
• Oversee enterprise system integrations with the States SAP environment, financial institutions, and third-party systems
• Track contract renewals; assist with procurement, budget monitoring, annual audits, and reporting; and contribute to long-range technology planning
• Supervise, develop, and direct IT staff as part of the IT Division leadership team
• Monitor and occasionally perform rotating after-hours work to address incidents, support system maintenance, and meet deadlines
