Home Goods Product Designer & Developer – Décor

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of professional home décor product design and development experience; 3–7+ years preferred.
• Proven success developing home décor products or collections for major brands, national retailers, or established home goods companies.
• A portfolio is required and should showcase original designs, commercially successful collections, range across styles, and knowledge of materials, color, finishes, and construction.
• Strong knowledge of home décor and interior design trends, consumer preferences, materials, finishes, patterns, and manufacturing considerations.
• Experience developing products from initial concept through sampling and production.
• Comfortable incorporating AI tools and other modern design technologies into the creative process.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator, and relevant design and visualization tools.
• Ability to create product renderings, presentations, mood boards, and technical specifications.
• Strong commercial awareness, organizational skills, attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills; able to manage concurrent projects and tight deadlines.
• Existing relationships with manufacturers or factories in China are a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize, design, and develop home décor products and collections from initial inspiration through production-ready designs.
• Build cohesive, commercially relevant collections across categories such as decorative accessories, vases, planters, candleholders, wall décor, and seasonal décor.
• Research and interpret current and emerging trends in interiors, color, materials, finishes, patterns, and consumer preferences.
• Create design concepts, mood boards, color palettes, material stories, and collection presentations that establish a clear visual direction.
• Use AI-powered creative tools to accelerate concept development, visualize products, explore variations, and streamline design work.
• Apply knowledge of materials, finishes, textures, manufacturing techniques, and construction to create attractive, production-feasible products.
• Prepare design files and detailed product specifications, including dimensions, colors, and material selections, for sampling and manufacturing.
• Partner with production teams and overseas factories to review samples, refine details, and ensure accurate execution.
• Collaborate with merchandising, sales, production, and management to align collections with customer needs, retailer expectations, and business goals.
• Manage multiple collections and projects simultaneously while delivering high-quality work on tight timelines.
