IT Application Development Manager - POS

Requirements:

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
• Familiarity with retail store systems, such as point-of-sale systems, store portals, workforce management tools, or store-level mobile applications, is preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of web and mobile application development, backend services, APIs, system integrations, data feeds, and ETL processes is preferred but not required.
• Experience supporting business-critical, highly integrated systems is preferred but not required.
• Exposure to Agile or hybrid delivery models and SDLC best practices is preferred but not required.
• General understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and enterprise architecture considerations, is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Manage application development initiatives from intake and prioritization through requirements gathering, delivery, and deployment.
• Lead and coordinate internal employees, consultants, systems integrators, and hardware and software vendors.
• Provide oversight and technical direction for application development, integrations, and deployments.
• Develop scalable, reliable enterprise solutions designed to support future growth.
• Oversee multiple concurrent initiatives, identifying risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate store technology deployments while minimizing disruption to store operations.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, vendor contracts, and change orders.
• Monitor vendor delivery commitments, service-level agreements, and financial controls.
• Improve processes, delivery quality, and operational stability.
• Coach and develop team members, manage performance, and plan resources.

We are hiring a Manager, IT Application Development, to lead enterprise store technology solutions across Family Dollars retail locations. The role partners with our Information Technology organization, other Support Center teams, and third-party vendors to deliver and continually improve store systems. This is a full-time, onsite position at our Store Support Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. We provide relocation assistance for candidates outside the Hampton Roads area. The role involves at least 10% travel for project events, conferences, and onsite meetings as needed. The projected salary range is $123,000–$150,000, with an annual bonus opportunity of 20% plus other incentives.
