Java Backend Developer

Requirements:

• 7+ years of Java or backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11 or later.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and the Spring Framework.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, and clean-code practices.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito, or similar testing frameworks.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants in software development.
• Ability to critically validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and performance.
• Strong debugging and production troubleshooting skills.
• Understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, exception handling, and API security.
• Preferred: Experience with GitHub Copilot or similar AI development tools, software engineering prompt techniques, AI-assisted testing or code review, Kafka or other messaging platforms, Docker and Kubernetes, cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, observability and application monitoring, high-volume transaction systems, or financial services, fintech, securities processing, or wealth management.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs and microservices.
• Turn product requirements into technical designs and working software.
• Use AI-assisted development tools in day-to-day engineering, including for code generation, refactoring, testing, code comprehension, documentation, debugging, API development, and legacy code modernization.
• Review and validate AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and performance.
• Create automated unit and integration tests.
• Integrate applications with APIs, databases, and messaging platforms.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions, backlog refinement, and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot application, integration, and production issues.
• Mentor engineers in Java development and effective AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Own features from technical design through production deployment.
