Java Spark Developer

Requirements:

• 8–12 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry
• Senior-level experience in an Applications Development role, including stakeholder and people management
• Basic familiarity with industry practices and standards
• Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
• Sound understanding of architecture principles and practices across multiple related areas
• Knowledge of Big Data, grid computing, data warehousing, cloud computing, and programming languages including Java, Spark, and Python
• Extensive experience building scalable, high-performance software platforms for data computation and processing
• Expert knowledge of core Java concepts and frameworks such as Spring Boot
• Experience with microservices and strong knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and design patterns
• Hands-on experience using Apache Spark with Java
• Experience with caching solutions such as Pinot and Redis
• Strong knowledge of Oracle databases, including schema design and query optimization
• Understanding of how technology integrates across an organization, as well as competitors products and services
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence senior leaders through data-driven communication and diplomacy
• Finance domain knowledge is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Apply broad Applications Development expertise to provide technical oversight across systems and applications, and review proposed project solutions
• Help shape strategies for Applications Development and other functional areas
• Build a comprehensive understanding of how business areas work together to achieve organizational goals
• Use factual analysis to make sound judgments in complex and unusual situations
• Monitor delivery outcomes and contribute to the effectiveness of the Applications Development area
• Ensure required procedures are followed, help define standards, and negotiate with external parties when needed
