Lead Java Developer

Requirements:

• 8+ years of hands-on full-stack Java development, ideally with enterprise HCM or payroll systems
• Working knowledge of payroll tax withholding, multistate and local compliance rules, and implementing this logic in code
• Practical, code-level experience with encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), and GDPR/CCPA and SOC 2 compliance controls
• Strong Java backend skills and frontend/UI development experience using Angular, React, or similar technologies
• Experience with REST, microservices, and CI/CD tools
• A strong interest in daily hands-on coding, with work measured by commits and delivered fixes rather than roadmaps or reports
• Preferred: Direct experience configuring payroll tax engines or HCM platform code
• Preferred: Experience creating automated compliance or tax-update pipelines

Responsibilities:

• Write and maintain production code across the full stack, including Java backend services and frontend/UI components
• Configure and update multistate payroll, local tax jurisdiction logic, and regulatory compliance rules in the codebase
• Build and maintain automated tax-update pipelines, integration jobs, and system configuration logging
• Investigate production issues, resolve payroll tax data anomalies, and implement fixes directly
• Triage, patch, and remediate system security vulnerabilities
• Implement and maintain RBAC logic in code
• Apply data encryption protocols and maintain code-level compliance with GDPR/CCPA and SOC 2 requirements
• Clear technical blockers for the team
• Conduct hands-on code reviews to uphold code quality
• Establish technical standards through reference implementations

We are hiring a Technical Delivery Lead – Fullstack to build, configure, and secure HCM software for client organizations. This is a hybrid role based in Alpharetta, Georgia, and requires local candidates who can attend an onsite interview. The position is primarily an individual-contributor role for someone who wants to stay closely involved in coding, debugging, and delivering full-stack Java features and payroll tax logic. Technical leadership is limited to removing blockers, reviewing code, and setting standards through working examples; the role does not focus on strategy, roadmaps, organizational planning, or people management.
