Remote Senior ETL/Hadoop Developer

Requirements:

• Experience with unit testing, release procedures, coding design, documentation protocols, and change management
• Proficiency with version-control tools, debugging tools, desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, and flowcharting tools such as Visio
• Thorough knowledge of information technology and computer systems, plus an in-depth understanding of the systems development life cycle
• Proficiency programming in more than one object-oriented language
• Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, critical-thinking, communication, and independent decision-making skills
• Ability to work flexibly as part of a team, manage tasks independently, take ownership, learn from feedback, and adapt to a changing environment
• At least 5 years of related work experience, including professional technical design and coding experience in the IT industry
• A related bachelors degree or equivalent related work experience
• Experience with SQL, Spark, PySpark, ETL, Kafka, Python, ETL techniques, Hadoop, and Spark

Responsibilities:

• Develop code for moderately complex system designs, programs, and APIs across platforms; enhance existing programs and build new ones
• Review other developers code and contribute to programming standards
• Prepare technical specifications, identify subsystem integration points, and report gaps in system or functional requirements and their impacts
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, project managers, and vendors; estimate the time and resources needed for programming projects and seek review of estimates
• Perform unit testing and debugging, and establish test conditions based on code specifications
• Support applications through the product development life cycle and document migration requirements
• Research vendor products and alternatives, including conducting gap analyses and comparisons
• Apply IT controls and standard corporate practices to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and data
