Senior Applications Engineer

Requirements:

• 5–7 years of experience; a BA in Business, BS in Engineering, or MS in Engineering is preferred. Relevant field experience may substitute for education.
• Thorough understanding of electronic security systems, their components, and the onsite labor required for installation.
• Ability to read and interpret written specifications, drawings, and controlling documents.
• Computer proficiency with MS Office, Acrobat, Visio, DWG Writer, Big Machines, and Salesforce.
• Strong communication skills and ability to obtain subcontractor pricing and compare bids from multiple subcontractors.
• Excellent knowledge of construction industry conventions, construction schedules, and building codes.
• Ability to manage workload and commitments, assemble all project costs, identify strategic and competitive issues, and assess competitors strategies.
• Ability to evaluate labor bids across categories, including IBEW, and navigate high-value projects with timeline and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Develop engineered estimates and budgets for new and existing clients using information from customers, consultants, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, sales representatives, key account representatives, and project managers.
• Coordinate regularly with account managers, support services, implementation coordinators, project managers, proposal support, customers, manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, and company leadership.
• Help develop project win strategies, assess project dynamics, and guide fellow application engineers on unfamiliar projects and products.
• Establish project requirements from interviews, scopes of work, site surveys, specifications, pricing sheets, and drawing reviews.
• Prepare detailed equipment lists, electrical and installation requirements, and costs for turnkey security solutions.
• Configure and quote prefabricated access control, CCTV, and other applicable systems.
• Select appropriate products in accordance with our product-selection process and design standards.
• Estimate installation costs with implementation and service operations, internal labor, and external labor teams.
• Review site survey documents and drawings, and support RFI, RFP, RFQ, and RFM&S processes as needed.
• Create estimates and budgets for access control, intrusion, CCTV, intercom, PSIM, PLC, and structured cabling systems.
• Review architectural, electrical, telecommunications, and security-engineering plans and drawings; interpret specifications, addenda, revisions, sketches, and scopes of work.
• Work with project managers and design engineers to prepare change orders for ongoing projects.
• Manage assigned projects, meet deadlines, and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
• Prepare project-specific clarifications, exclusions, and compliance details; research product information online.
• Be punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented, and perform additional duties as assigned.
