Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of server hardware, components, and management technologies.
  • Proficiency with Ansible or Python and hands-on experience programmatically managing server BMCs through Redfish or IPMI; Redfish is preferred.
  • Experience working with hardware vendors and OEMs to evaluate, qualify, and deploy server solutions.
  • Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure, participating in on-call or escalation rotations, and resolving incidents through root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to build and automate systems while also supporting infrastructure in production.
  • Commitment to staying current with server and data center hardware technologies and trends, and to improving automation and scalability.
  • Strong technical writing, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and a systematic, data-informed approach.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to work effectively with technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Preferred: experience launching data center regions or infrastructure in new geographies; working with GPU platforms and rack-scale systems such as NVIDIA GB200 or GB300; or managing BMC interfaces such as Redfish or IPMI across a fleet.
  • Preferred: experience with firmware lifecycle management or large-scale hardware qualification; Linux administration and debugging at fleet scale; Kubernetes-based services, Prometheus, Grafana, or distributed production environments; operational alerting, runbooks, and self-service tooling; or technical troubleshooting for external customers or partners.
  • This role requires access to export-controlled information. Applicants must be a U.S. person (a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or otherwise eligible to access the information without a required export authorization.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize server hardware infrastructure for our high-performance workloads.
  • Automate the server hardware lifecycle, including provisioning, configuration, firmware management, monitoring, and decommissioning.
  • Develop and maintain hardware and firmware management services that support reliability at scale.
  • Build monitoring and alerting for hardware health, improving alert quality and on-call response.
  • Act as a senior contact for hardware escalations, troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues, identify root causes, and drive lasting fixes.
  • Participate in the hardware escalation on-call rotation and improve its runbooks, alerts, and tools.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to define hardware requirements, specifications, and system architecture.
  • Partner with server vendors and OEMs to evaluate, qualify, and deploy platforms and resolve firmware, quality, and RMA issues.
  • Support new data center region launches and hardware qualification.
  • Assess hardware performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve efficiency and resilience.
  • Establish and refine internal hardware testing, deployment, and performance optimization processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation for hardware designs, specifications, test procedures, and results.
  • Provide data center operations teams and hardware technicians with troubleshooting guidance, runbooks, and training to help resolve common issues without engineering escalation.
  • Use recurring production failures to improve automation, telemetry, platform design, and vendor solutions.
  • Clearly communicate status, trade-offs, and risks to engineering, operations, and customer-facing stakeholders, including during incidents.
