Senior Java Developer - Chicago

Requirements:

• We require 8+ years of hands-on experience with Java (J2EE), Spring Boot, and microservices.
• We require proven experience building and supporting cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
• We require strong expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• We require experience working in Agile environments and onsite/offshore delivery models.
• We require extensive hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups, Kafka Streams, event processing, message ordering, delivery guarantees, scaling approaches, schema registry, and event versioning.
• We require strong experience with enterprise messaging platforms such as Kafka, Solace PubSub+, IBM MQ, Azure Service Bus, and Event Hubs.
• We require deep understanding of event-driven architecture, publish/subscribe patterns, event sourcing, CQRS, saga patterns, message reliability, error handling, dead letter queues, event replay, and recovery strategies.
• We require experience designing and implementing high-throughput, low-latency messaging systems.
• We require strong hands-on experience with REST APIs, SOAP services, and event-based integrations.
• We require strong understanding of API lifecycle management and service integrations.
• We require mandatory experience with API security, including OAuth 2.0, JWT validation, and secure service-to-service communication.
• We require experience with Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Container Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Azure networking/cloud-native architecture patterns.
• We require experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Terraform.
• We require strong experience integrating automated testing, security scanning, and deployment automation.
• We require experience provisioning Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• We require experience with Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, or other Azure-hosted databases.
• We require understanding of data consistency models and transactional patterns in distributed systems.
• We require backend development experience with Python and Node.js.
• We require a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A bachelors degree is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• We design and develop scalable event-driven microservices and messaging solutions.
• We build, enhance, and support enterprise-grade applications using Kafka, Solace, IBM MQ, and Azure messaging services.
• We design event schemas, topics, queues, and integration patterns for highly distributed systems.
• We ensure reliability, scalability, observability, and security across messaging platforms and integrations.
• We develop and execute unit, integration, and performance testing for messaging-based solutions.
• We collaborate with architects and technical leads on event-driven solution design and implementation.
• We document architecture, event flows, message contracts, and operational procedures.
• We support production deployments and troubleshoot messaging infrastructure and applications.
• We ensure non-functional requirements such as security, performance, scalability, resiliency, and maintainability are built into every solution.
• We proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and dependencies that could affect project delivery.
