Senior Systems Engineer

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of hands-on IT support, systems administration, or consulting experience
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows, Microsoft 365, networks, cloud services, and endpoint devices
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience and working knowledge of Azure and other Microsoft cloud technologies
• Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, wireless networking, and network security
• Experience supporting users and technology in professional business environments
• Ability to independently diagnose complex technical problems and own them through resolution
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when working with non-technical users
• Strong organization, judgment, documentation, and follow-through, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple clients
• Proactive, service-oriented approach and willingness to take ownership
• Curious, dependable working style and ability to build trust, collaborate, and explain complex technology clearly
• Preferred: MSP or IT consulting experience; experience with Meraki, Kaseya, or similar platforms; business support for macOS, iPhones, and iPads; familiarity with Google Workspace; additional Azure or AWS experience; experience with endpoint security and modern cybersecurity tools; or Microsoft, networking, security, or cloud certifications
• English proficiency preferred
• San Francisco location and ability to commute to San Francisco required

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary technical resource and trusted advisor for assigned client accounts
• Provide responsive remote and onsite technical support
• Troubleshoot and resolve escalated desktop, Microsoft 365, cloud, server, network, security, and mobile-device issues
• Own complex tickets and follow them through to resolution with minimal supervision
• Administer and support Microsoft 365, Windows, Azure, and related Microsoft technologies
• Support and troubleshoot business networks, firewalls, switches, wireless networks, VPNs, VLANs, and related infrastructure
• Identify recurring problems and recommend improvements to reliability, security, and usability
• Manage multiple client requests, projects, onsite visits, and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment
• Maintain accurate, useful client, network, and systems documentation
• Communicate technical issues, recommendations, and resolutions clearly to users at all levels
• Collaborate with our engineers, share technical knowledge, and help solve difficult problems
• Stay current with security, cloud technologies, Microsoft platforms, and emerging AI tools

We are Langtech, a San Francisco-based IT consulting and managed services firm with more than 30 years of experience. We provide managed IT services, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, networking, custom software development, onsite support, and guidance on emerging technologies, including AI. This is a full-time, client-facing Senior Systems Engineer role supporting businesses across the San Francisco Bay Area, with regular onsite work on the San Mateo Peninsula. The position is hybrid, combining remote work with client visits, and follows a day-shift, 8-hour schedule with participation in an on-call rotation as needed.
