Software Developer / IT Specialist

Requirements:

• Associates or bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in software development, IT support, or systems administration.
• Working knowledge of SQL, including joins, filtering, aggregates, and table relationships.
• Solid networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, VLANs, and basic firewall rules.
• Familiarity with Docker images, containers, Dockerfiles, container networking, and persistent storage.
• Experience writing code in at least one language; Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript is preferred.
• Comfort using the Linux command line and Git for version control.
• Ability to investigate logs and error messages methodically.
• Clear written communication skills, including documenting work and explaining technical issues to nontechnical coworkers.
• Preferred, but not required: experience with Python web frameworks and ORMs; TypeScript, Lit, or Vite; CI/CD and GitLab CI; Docker Compose, container registries, or reverse proxies; PostgreSQL administration; ERP or MRP systems; Progressive Web Apps; Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, or Entra ID; monitoring, alerting, or backup tools; IT support in manufacturing; ITAR, DFARS, or CMMC; or networking coursework or certifications such as Network+ or CCNA.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain internal web applications, working across a Python REST API and TypeScript front end.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for the ERP database and PostgreSQL schemas, helping maintain accurate internal reporting.
• Package and deploy applications as Docker containers through GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide day-to-day IT support for user accounts, workstations, printers, shop-floor terminals, and company mobile devices.
• Patch, back up, and monitor self-hosted services, including databases, caches, reverse proxies, and the internal wiki.
• Troubleshoot issues reported by engineering, production, and front-office teams, and see them through to resolution.
• Document development and troubleshooting work in the internal wiki.
• Collaborate with the team to replace manual, spreadsheet-based processes with useful tools.

This Software Developer / IT Specialist role sits within our Engineering / IT department and divides time between internal applications and the infrastructure that supports them. You will work alongside the developer who built our current systems, with opportunities to take ownership as you grow; we provide on-the-job training and do not expect familiarity with every tool in our stack. This is a hands-on, on-site position on a small, collaborative team, with close contact with the people who use your work and visible results soon after delivery.
