Sr. Software Engineer, Enterprise Platform Modernization

Requirements:

• Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Science and Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field; foreign degrees are accepted with seven years of experience in software engineering or a related occupation.
• Demonstrated experience developing production enterprise applications with Java, JSP, Servlets, Spring, Hibernate/JPA, SQL Server or comparable relational databases, REST APIs, JavaScript, and Angular or a comparable modern web framework.
• Experience modernizing mature or brownfield enterprise platforms while maintaining operational continuity and system reliability.
• Experience owning enterprise software design, rollout, production and on-call support, troubleshooting, and post-deployment stabilization.
• Experience developing or supporting large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS applications, including tenant-aware configuration, permissions, data isolation, or feature controls.
• Experience designing and supporting distributed systems, asynchronous queue-based processing, message-driven workflows, idempotent processing, database lease or locking coordination, scheduler coordination, or equivalent multi-node work-distribution patterns.
• Experience developing enterprise integrations and REST API services that connect legacy systems, cloud services, document stores, workflow systems, or external providers.
• Experience implementing production reliability practices, such as circuit breakers, retry and backoff, external-service isolation, background processing, graceful degradation, monitoring, alerting, or performance optimization.
• Experience implementing application security, authentication, authorization, auditing, secure document access, and safeguards for sensitive or regulated data.
• Experience deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise applications in cloud or hosted environments such as Rackspace, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, or Tomcat clusters, or comparable infrastructure.
• Experience technically leading engineering teams through legacy-system integration and architecture modernization, conducting code and design reviews, and mentoring software engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, modernize, test, deploy, document, and maintain our multi-tenant HR technology SaaS platform.
• Modernize our established Java/J2EE, JSP/Servlet, Tomcat, Spring, Hibernate, SQL Server, JavaScript, and Angular platform while preserving production continuity across clustered application nodes.
• Design asynchronous queue-based processing and REST APIs.
• Own solutions from design through rollout, production support, on-call coverage, and post-deployment stabilization.
• Support deployments across Rackspace, AWS, and Azure environments.
• Develop and integrate AI-enabled capabilities, including semantic search, recruiting workflow applications, and document analysis.
