Systems Administrator - VMware

Requirements:

• Strong on-premises VMware development and operational support, including vSphere 7 and 8, ESXi, vSphere/Virtual Center, VDS and networking, vDRS, and Single Sign-On
• Strong HP and Dell server hardware experience supporting the ESXi hypervisor
• Strong Terraform skills
• Good to strong Ansible skills
• Strong Visual Studio Code skills
• Strong GitHub or GitLab skills
• Strong CI/CD experience
• Some cloud experience, particularly with AWS
• Good understanding of on-premises network routing, DNS, and firewalls in support of VMware platforms
• Desired: VMware certifications; experience with Ubuntu, AWS or Azure, and Ansible
• Desired: Analytical and complex problem-solving capabilities
• Desired: Proficiency in daily server operations, including account administration, file service management, print services administration, and infrastructure security management
• Desired: Familiarity with virtualized environments such as VMware and KVM
• Desired: Knowledge of operating system security concepts, including SELinux and firewalls
• Desired: Microsoft, Cisco, or UNIX professional certifications
• Desired: Network administration and Active Directory skills
• Desired: Ability to create documentation and reports using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:

• Use Remedy to address customer-reported server and desktop support issues
• Analyze and resolve network, infrastructure, and tooling issues
• Conduct root cause analysis to resolve complex problems
• Assess server performance and storage capacity, and plan for future needs
• Perform routine server and workstation OS patching, upgrades, vulnerability and security management, and file system maintenance, often after hours or on weekends to avoid customer outages
• Manage user accounts and maintain system documentation
• Install server systems and related hardware
• Interface with hardware service controllers and configure lights-out management
• Install and configure operating systems, software applications, and programs
• Work independently in a closed-area environment and lead projects based on program requirements
• Contribute to architected solutions based on customer requirements and coordinate with vendors on hardware and software implementation, issues, patches, and upgrades
