Systems Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Requirements:

• High school diploma required; a bachelors degree is highly desired.
• Three to five years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, network security methodologies, and network security architecture, including topology, protocols, components, defense-in-depth, and zero-trust principles.
• Knowledge of system, network, and operating system hardening techniques, and system administration for Unix/Linux, iOS, Android, and Windows systems.
• Knowledge of IDS/IPS tools and applications, network protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS, directory services, and application vulnerabilities.
• Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II certification requirements at the time of hire.
• Preferred knowledge includes cyber threats and vulnerabilities; operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses; host and network access controls; cybersecurity and privacy principles; network traffic analysis; VPN security; transmission technologies and jamming techniques; network access and identity management; system and application security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks; and classes of attacks.
• Must currently hold a Top Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required for Top Secret clearance at this location.
• Must be able to lift 10–20 pounds or more, stand and walk for prolonged periods, and periodically twist, bend, and squat.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct vulnerability scans and identify vulnerabilities in security systems using DoD network analysis tools such as ACAS and HBSS.
• Perform application vulnerability assessments and identify systemic security issues by analyzing vulnerability and configuration data.
• Share insights into the organizations threat environment to strengthen its risk management posture.
• Apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements, including confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation.
• Apply host and network access controls, use VPN devices and encryption, and protect networks against malware using measures such as NIPS, anti-malware tools, external-device restrictions, and spam filters.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose cyber defense infrastructure anomalies and work toward resolution.
• Perform impact and risk assessments.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
