Technical Writer

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree
• Five to seven years of technical writing experience
• Functional working knowledge of MIL-STD-40051 (IADS/XML)
• Civilian or military avionics experience is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Gather information for documentation through interviews with technical personnel, review of notes, draft reports and existing materials, meeting participation, and observation of demonstrations, experiments, and equipment operations
• Develop, update, and maintain Army Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), including Operator, Field/Depot Maintenance, and RPSTL content
• Create IETM changes and updates by analyzing engineering data, including drawings and schematics
• Develop and maintain Maintenance Work Orders (MWOs) and Depot Work Maintenance Requirements (DWMRs)
• Facilitate publications and MWO validation events at contractor or government facilities
• Participate in government-run verification events
• Research technical issues independently and develop documentation
• Organize, outline, and write documents in accordance with sound English principles and applicable commercial, military, and DoD standards and regulations
• Determine the appropriate level of detail, standards, and formats for documents
• Apply proper security practices when handling classified materials and ensure completed documents are appropriately marked
• Organize and oversee the work of junior technical writers
