Vice President, AI Engineering Team Lead

Requirements:

• We seek an engineering leader with proven experience leading and line-managing teams in complex, collaborative environments.
• You have demonstrated experience delivering production-grade generative AI solutions, including RAG architectures, vector databases, and model evaluation frameworks, with an emphasis on scalable, repeatable delivery.
• You bring deep expertise designing solutions on Microsoft Azure or AWS and a strong understanding of Secure by Design (SbD), Architecture Review Board (ARB), Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA), and CI/CD pipelines.
• You can define technical standards and reference patterns, document architectural decisions, and assess technologies, vendors, and delivery approaches.
• You have comprehensive knowledge of security, privacy, responsible AI, data governance, and model risk in global financial services or similarly regulated industries.
• You communicate technical strategies, business cases, and recommendations clearly to senior leaders, and can define measurable outcomes and assess return on investment.
• You are experienced with AI engineering orchestration, governance, and development tools; familiarity with AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot is beneficial.
• Experience in machine learning, data science, MLOps, or LLMOps is desirable. Experience providing first-, second-, or third-line support across multiple business areas is also beneficial.
• Understanding of application user-interface design best practices and proficiency with Jira and Confluence are advantageous.
• You have a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience demonstrating deep technical capability.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of approximately five AI Engineers in designing, developing, deploying, and supporting production-grade generative AI solutions, including RAG architectures and agentic systems.
• Establish and grow our AI Centre of Excellence, taking end-to-end responsibility for solution design, delivery, and support.
• Work with Digital Transformation teams and business stakeholders to understand requirements, prioritize use cases, create practical roadmaps, and plan delivery capacity.
• Set architectural principles, engineering standards, reusable patterns, and quality controls for AI solutions in a regulated environment.
• Assess technology platforms, including Microsoft Azure and AWS, against business value, cost, risk, strategic alignment, and long-term supportability.
• Manage team delivery through backlog management, estimates, milestone tracking, risk assessment, documentation, release readiness, and reporting.
• Oversee change management and privileged production access, and establish technical guardrails that keep solutions within acceptable risk limits and regulatory requirements.
• Provide support for team-owned services, work with business owners to define success measures, and track outcomes to guide improvement.
• Build a customer-centric team culture, strengthen business relationships, and deliver solutions that provide tangible business value.
• Champion AI technologies and best practices, and collaborate with colleagues across EMEA, the US, and Asia to share learning and advance scalable adoption.
